,
a Los Angeles greeting card company, has the perfect solution for those
times when you care enough to send the very worst.
They’re launching a Web-based service that will mail "wickedly funny"
greeting cards for you—anonymously (or not)—starting this week. Just in time
for Valentine’s Day.
Called Poison Pen Letters, the red and black cards express a "sweet"
sentiment on the outside. "But inside, they can pack a wallop," says Alan
Harris, the company founder and CEO. One Poison Pen Valentine’s Day card
shows a red heart and bears the caption, "You break it, you pay for it."
Another reads, "You’re the one… The wrong one!"
Available online and in select retail stores, "Poison Pen Letters are
designed to start relationships, mend relationships, and end relationships,"
Harris says. "We pride ourselves on our ability to ease the pain of people
who feel they have been hurt or wronged."
But not everyone has the gumption to send cards like these on their own.
That’s where the new service, called "Anonymously Yours," comes in. Starting
this week, customers who order online can have PoisonPen.com send cards
through the US Mail on their behalf—without divulging whom or where the
cards are coming from.
"We think Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to level the playing field
and open a real channel of communication for people who might not otherwise
have their say," Harris says. "Poison Pen Letters are funny, but they get to
the heart of the matter."
Of course, Poison Pen has plenty of cards for other special— and
not-so-special—occasions, Harris says. "Our motto is: ‘Because YOU deserve
the last word.’"
