STRATEGY AND EXECUTION
The Forsyth Institute
We developed strategy, press list, materials and staff capabilities
and provided media training for an
international biomedical research institute in Boston. In a six-month period,
Forsyth discoveries were featured
in nearly 100 local, national and international media outlets including BioWorld
Today, the Boston Globe, CBS Evening News, Genomics and Genetics Week, Hartford Courant, Harvard Medical School Focus,
Harvard Magazine, HealthScoutNews.com, Italian national television, Intelihealth.com,
Los Angeles Times, Medicine Week, Mass High Tech, National Public Radio, Prevention Magazine, Public Radio International, Reuters Health, Reuters
English Language Service, Science Magazine, Times of London, the UK Daily Mail, WBUR
Radio, WBZ Radio, and WCVB-TV, among others. We have since garnered
coverage by the Associated Press, Cable News Network, German Public
Television, Newsweek, United Press Inernational, US News and World Report,
Wall Street Journal, and the Washington Post, among other outlets.
Annual
Report
With the Communications Strategy Group,
we researched and wrote the annual report for Genzyme
Biosurgery, a biotechnology company formed in a merger of three public
companies. Because the merger occurred at the very end of 2000, we were asked
to complete the assignment within three weeks of the start date--and succeeded at doing
so.
Newsletter
We provide ongoing editorial consultation to Lifelong Health and Fitness,
the newsletter of the International Association on Physical Activity,
Aging, and Sports.
Physician
Education Tapes
We researched and wrote physician education audiotapes on Hepatitis C for the Tufts University School of Medicine. The
tapes were distributed by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
Web Content and
Development
We developed and wrote Web sites for Lifelong Health and Fitness, Radcliffe ChildCare
Centers, and Rethinking Work. Anita Harris has written numerous articles for
the Web sites of Adheris consulting;
Healthgate.com and thedailyapple.com, among other publications.
The HarrisCom Web
site was used as an example of good Web design in a course on Web
development at Newton Center for Adult Education.
Articles
Numerous articles on health and science topics published by Harvard
University Gazette and Harvard Medical School Focus, as
well as such Web publications as Healthgate.com and Caresoft.com.
- MEDIA TRAINING
We researched and designed a statewide media relations training program for the Massachusetts
Tobacco Control Program, with a special
focus on reaching minority populations.
We also coached scientists and other health
professionals at the Forsyth Institute and the Harvard School of Public Health in
preparation for media appearances.
- PUBLIC AFFAIRS
MANAGEMENT
Anita Harris stepped
in as interim
director of public affairs at the Harvard School of Public Health, which has a research and
teaching faculty 900. In a six month period, she handled some 1000 press inquiries,
wrote and sent numerous press releases, served as liaison with Harvard's central
administration, hospitals and schools, handled crisis communications, and
coached health and science professionals in media relations and presentation skills.
She also worked with the HSPH Webmaster to develop a public affairs Web site.
